Milna & Bobovišća

This time, we will take you to the island of Brac in the beautiful port – Milna.

Milna or as the Venetians called it “Valle di mille navi” (the bay of a thousand ships) is located on the north-west side of the island. The welcoming bays of Milna have always been favourite port to sailors sailing through the Middle Adriatic. Milna is still reputed as the most beautiful and the safest harbour of Brač. The two highly equipped marinas in Milna offer high quality service even to the most demanding sailors. Stone houses along the beautiful long coastline are small masterpieces of plebeian architecture. In the village there is aslo a beautiful Baroque church with a typically Dalmatian bell tower.
For years, Milna was known for its shipbuilding and the renowned Dalmatian boat “bracera” was first made here. Today, Milna is a popular tourist centre and a favourite nautical port. Besides historical sights, its scenic beauty and irresistible charm of a typically Dalmatian “small town”, Milna will enchant you with its healthy Mediterranean cuisine abundant in fresh fish, quality olive oil and home-made wines. If you like maritime sports, you can enjoy scuba-diving, sailing or fishing.

Our next destination will be a small place – Bobovisca. Actually, there are two places with the same name, but this time, we will take you to Bobovica on the sea.
Bobovišća na moru (Bobovisca at sea) has the most beautiful castle on the island, which dates from the 18th century. This fort is owned by the family Gligo, and today serves as a residential building. In the basement of this building there is a large opening for the canon, while the walls are adorned with the fort hatches for rifles. The beautiful garden contains a stone table, once used as the base for a wooden stick for mashing grapes.

In Bobovisca na moru, you will be pleasantly surprised and warmly welcomed by the monument built in honor to Vladimir Nazor, a famous Croatian poet originally from this area. On the hill above the beach Kargadur there are three pillars very similar to ancient pillars, which the poet had built in honor of his three sisters.

Bobovisca today is a quiet place with approximately 100 inhabitants. Apart from fishing, the small population of Bobovisca is engaged with agriculture, vineyards and olive groves.

Bobovisca na moru is the small Mediterranean fishing village with old houses and a long tradition of tourism that will besides authentic environment and beautiful nature show you historical heritage so live that will make you feel almost as if you can touch the sweet melancholy of past centuries

Optionally, we can also visit the village Stomorska – the oldest settlement on the island of Solta. This is the place with clean sea, beautiful beaches, long promenades along the sea, pine wood by the beach, beaches in the place, secluded beaches, peace and silence in the place with no big crowd.
